Opera Shorts was formed by Luke Drummond in September 2007, at the suggestion of our current patron, Nigel Osborne MBE.
Our first year has been primarily focussed on the single aim of bootstrapping the company into such a position to be able to stage the work of many talented young musicians.
This has involved the formation of the company, the establishment and codification of our aims, and fostering relationships with as diverse and talented a range of musicians as possible.
The artistic board of Opera Shorts lack no resourcefulness and have considerable collective experience in performance, composition, conducting, and the theatre. Coupled with this is the artistic guidance and patronage of Nigel Osborne, who has had a long and highly regarded career as a composer of opera. This relationship allow us to work with some of the most seasoned professionals the country can offer. At present, we have also a fledgling, but promising relationship with a number of highly skilled performers, composers, and dramatics from around Scotland, with whom we will be working with on a number of creative enterprises in the future, and will involve some of the best stage talent Scotland can offer.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the ideal place to consolidate a year’s dedicated work, and give the many musicians, writers, and artists currently involved the opportunity to release the massive potential of their efforts and creativity.
Not for profit...Opera Shorts is a not for profit company. As such All box office receipts are dedicated solely to the company's artistic aims, and currently, all staff recieve no payment for their work.
Opera Shorts welcomes all charitable donations, and donations from individuals and is keen to form mutually beneficial partnerships with certain corporations interested in reaching a new, diverse audience.
